Valentine’s Day in Dubai, UAE

Valentine's Day in Dubai, UAE - what to doSaint Valentine’s Day, commonly known as Valentine’s Day, or the Feast of Saint Valentine, celebrated mainly in Europe, US and the Far East on February 14 each year although it remains a working day in most of them. After New Year’s Day, it is the most celebrated holiday around the world. In the past years, even in Dubai and the UAE (thanks to the growing presence of Europeans and Americans) this Day has begun to be celebrated.

The day was first associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in the High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished. By the 15th century, it had evolved into an occasion in which lovers expressed their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering heart-shaped confectionery and greeting cards (known as “valentines“). Nowadays the gift could be also very expensive (especially in Dubai…), a travel, a jewel, a luxury dinner or cruise dinner.

Just for a romantic evening, I created some fashion & gold makeup drawings, especially designed for Valentine’s Day.

Girls and women always love a touch of fashion to their look: those 4 ideas are in line with the latest trends and style in Dubai, where the Arabic culture, the passion for gold, blend with the European style. In the gallery you can find 4 different designs.

For Valentine’s Day we need to focus on being original: try to reach the attention of our partner, but with style. Without overdoing it. Our duty is to be at the top; our husband’s, boyfriend’s or aspiring one’s, to hit us with a romantic gesture. Personally, I’d not love to reach the restaurant by a limousine or luxury car for rent, but maybe that can make your special evening, more special. Maybe a Hummer Limo to celebrate with other couples…

Gift ideas for Valentine’s Day in Dubai

I’m not a real fanatic of this day but I think any woman would appreciate a romantic gesture.

1. A bouquet of red roses, with a nice valentine greeting card (so to stay in keeping with the tradition) is’ always well accepted. Flowers can be bought in most supermarkets and service stations, as well as at the store at the airport (useful if you are just landing with your lady or to reach her or if you are welcoming her at the aiport). They do not always have the kiosks; sometimes there is a fridge used as a showcase for the flowers.

2. An accessory in particular, for example, a scarf, a hat or a leather belt (such as those one by Fausto Colato). Or a jewel (especially if the next step is a wedding proposal…), not necessarily expensive, but designed just for your Lei order to buy these things there ‘… the only puzzling from Dubai Mall offers shops .. 1200 is everything.

3. An invitation to dinner at a particular restaurant. Maybe at the Bab Al Shams, with Arabic atmosphere, or at Stefano’s in Dubai marina, with an enchanting location, or perhaps in one of the hotels in Dubai. Or better a romantic breakfast at the Majlis, lounge cafe inside the Dubai Mall. Majlis (or Mejlis, Arabic: مجلس) means “place of sitting”, but also referred as a meeting place, a place to relax, to talk, to discuss topics more or less important (perhaps a wedding proposal …) or where to exchange a valentine. But in our case also a place where you can taste specialties like Arab camel milk, camel milk chocolate and an assorted pastries.

I like the idea of an accessory and dinner. Last year, my husband and I visited the Atelier M at Dubai Marina for our Vday dinner, and it was perfect. Maybe we will check out Bab Al shams this time

    Thanks for the info.
