Rugby stars in the spotlight: Abu Dhabi Harlequins former player Mike Ballard who suffered spinal damage in a match in April 2014 will meet this month his old club colleague Ed Lewsey at the 2015 Rugby World Cup to watch some of the most sought-after matches in the competition, told The National, in a post. Ed Lewsey who has been a close friend to Michael ever since his incident has “arranged everything from tickets, lodging and even a van,” Ballard said.
After the accident, the Michael Ballard Foundation was created as a “fund-raiser for a veteran rugby player,” Mr. Lewsey said. It offers a “platform for the Rugby & Wider Gulf Community to come together in support of Mike during his rehab from spinal injury,” which has been slow and steady, as explained on its Facebook page.
After everything happened,” Aside from the matches and sightseeing, Ballard is scheduled to give a talk to school children about spinal injuries, as well as meet other players who have suffered injuries similar to his,” mentioned The National in the post.
