Spartan Race is coming to Dubai soon – are you fit enough? The event takes place Friday, February 20 at Jebel Ali Racecourse, Al Barsha, UAE. On race day, the first wave of contenders will be starting at 7:00am and others will be released every 15 minutes thereafter across two groups (Elite and open waves).
This race series event brings the toughest of obstacle racing for competitors; it is a 5+km/20+ obstacle route that will test a contestant’s strength and mindset. Participants will need to conquer a variety of obstacles along the race, such as slippery walls, barbed wire trenches, mud pools and sand zones.
Since the obstacles for the Spartan race in Dubai will push the participants’ limits and test their strength, many of the athletes are undergoing rigorous training for the preparation. Free workouts are held usually in cities wherever Spartan Races are organized; therefore, check to see if there are WOD (Work of the Day) Programs in the area. This provides athletes a chance to learn exercises from official Spartan SGX Coaches and train with like-minded Spartans to learn to face the toughest of challenges they will encounter in the race.
Reebok Spartan Races are timed, ranked and judged according to gender and age, with a point score given to top performers of each race venue; they are specifically designed to leave contestants exhausted and exhilarated. One will know at the finish line if they have what it takes to be a true Spartan with the physical and mental skills and athletic abilities of the mythic heroes. The experience offers an adrenalin rush; and, with natural and fabricated obstacles, is intended to test mind-body fitness. However, the Spartan Race not only provides a rigorous physical workout but can also be a fun social event.
Whether racing alone, with a team, or with a company, the participants can raise awareness and money for charity of their choice, if they would like. Those that step up to a brutal Spartan Race obstacle course do so mainly to challenge themselves in an endurance race like no other, but some are also getting involved and helping to make a difference to support multiple charities and causes. In essence, it is an opportunity for sports persons to better themselves and others.
Information regarding the Spartan Race is available on DubaiBlog, which has become officially a digital media partner of the event. Nico de Corato, the owner and founder of DubaiBlog, will take part in the race and capture the action from within the event.
Competitors who have yet to register are encouraged to do so today if they are to take part in the upcoming Dubai Sprint UAE. The price is AED500.00. The cost includes a completion medal for finishers, in addition to a t-shirt and cap, water, banana and granola bar.
