ENIT – The Italian State Tourism Board – Area Asia & Oceania, headed by Dr. Riccardo Strano – launched with his Dubai Agency a series of initiatives on the occasion of the Italian Festival Weeks 2014, the biggest Italian festival in the GCC, with the objective of promoting Italy as a tourist destination with a particular focus on EXPO 2015 Milano, and increasing tourism flows from the Gulf Region.
‘We are expecting a tourism flow growth from the GCC countries’ the Director of Asia & Oceania Strano said; ‘our Dubai agency is promoting Italy as a tourist destination in the Gulf and will display the new Italian Promotional Campaign ‘A holiday “Made in Italy” is tailor-made for you’ during the most relevant events of the IFWs14 and distribute regional brochures, the brand new roll ups, maps and calendars, produced by the agency in collaboration with EXPO 2015 Milano.’
Under the auspices of ENIT, the Italian Festival Weeks 2014, the biggest Italian Festival in the GCC, aims at celebrating and promoting true Italian culture and lifestyle and will take place between the 7th of November to the 13th of December 2014 across various locations of the UAE. This year’s program features a spectacular line up of events, varying from music to art, from culture to entertainment, from cuisine to tourism (organized by ENIT) without forgetting the business aspect.
The Italian Promotional Campaign in the Gulf has been published in its English and Arabic versions through “Ain Almusafer”, the main Luxury and Lifestyle magazine addressed to the Arab travelers (mostly Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar & Oman), included the “Piazze d’Italia – 180” – Made in Italy’ in a prominent position of its website www.ainalmusafer.com . During the last edition of the Arabian Travel Market, Ain Almusafer was awarded by ENIT with the ‘Media Awards – Category: Arabic Tourism Magazine’. The ENIT campaign (www.italy.travel) was launched in the Gulf on the occasion of ‘Naturally Made in Italy’, the first certified seminar about Natural Tourism. It will be displayed also in the Ospitalita’ Italiana Magazine and on the tourism section of www.dubaitaly.com (made in collaboration with ENIT). The promotional campaign showing EXPO 2015 will be also published in the special edition of Khaleej Times, in Travel Daily Middle East and in the Arabic Magazine ‘Italy Fountain of Beauty’ produced by Travel World.
From the 2nd to 6th of November the office will visit the main UAE’s Tour Operators to distribute promotional material along with its brand new Italian maps and calendars, and will promote the EXPO 2015 Ticketing Reseller project to the management of the biggest TOs in the UAE, taking the chance to invite them to the ‘Workshop Italia’ in Dubai, aimed at improving the visibility and increasing the Italian tourism offer in the catalogues of the local Tour Operators.
The Workshop Italia in Dubai will take place at Millennium Plaza Hotel on the 10th of November and will host B2B meetings between Italian and UAE operators from 12 to 16 pm.
Following a previous mission of ENIT Asia & Oceania – Antenna Dubai in the capital of the Sultanate of Oman, for the first time the Italian Workshop will include a day in Muscat (11th of November 2014, 13 – 16.30 pm) in order to open a new market for the Italian operators in the Gulf. From 5 to 6 PM there will also be the first seminar ‘Italy, unique destination’ for the Oman travel staff, in collaboration with Oman Air.
ENIT Area Asia & Oceania – Dubai agency will hold the 4th training sessions in the year for Emirates Holidays on the 13th of November, with the aim of increasing the tourist flow to the emerging Italian destinations and showing the impact of the EXPO 2015 event on the Italian Tourism. ENIT will give useful information about Italy to the agents and will distribute the new maps and calendars to their frontline staff. A presentation to the call center agents will follow. During the last Arabian Travel Market, Emirates Holidays was awarded for the recent excellent increase of the Italian tourism offer in their catalogues.
Within the frame of the Italian Cuisine World Summit, on the 17th & 18th of November ENIT Area Asia & Oceania – Dubai agency will introduce the most relevant Italian culinary itineraries to the students of the Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management and will present journeys through Italy’s gastronomic regional culture, starting from the theme of EXPO 2015 ‘Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life’. On the 18th of November at Merletto Restaurant (Marriott Hotel al Jaddaf) during the evening ‘Le vie dei Sapori’, ENIT will promote the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region. The Italian Cuisine World Summit is the most influential event promoting Italian quality food, beverage and lifestyle in the world.
In collaboration with Alitalia, ENIT Area Asia & Oceania – Dubai agency will hold two training sessions for the agents of Omeir Travel Agency (the largest travel management company in Abu Dhabi – GSA of Alitalia) and for the travel trade operators. The presentations expects a good number of participants and will have a particular focus on EXPO 2015 Milano and will be divided into two sections: Italian tourism destinations and Alitalia product updates.
With the aim of increasing awareness of Italy as a unique destination, especially in view of EXPO 2015 in Milan, ENIT – the Italian State Tourist Board – will present the ‘Bel Paese’ on the 30th of November at the American University in Dubai, focusing on how art, design, architecture, industry, cinema, food and other endeavors have made Italy a point of reference in the human civilization.
In view of the Italian Tour organized by dnata Travel for their 12 Top seller agents, ENIT Area Asia & Oceania – Dubai agency will present the destinations of the trip: Rome, Florence, Milan & Venice. In collaboration with Veneto Promozione, Dubai agency arranged a guided Tour of Venice (including a gondola trip) and provided the agents of the important TO with the Venice Day Passes. dnata Travel was also selected to participate to “Veneto for you – Workshop Internazionale del Turismo nel Veneto” (the 15th – 19th of October).
Following the mission to Muscat and the subsequent Workshop Italia in the capital of the Sultanate of Oman, in December ENIT Asia & Oceania – Antenna Dubai will organize a mission in collaboration with EXPO 2015 Milano, meeting the Qatar institutions and the main Tour Operators, with the aim of promoting Italy as a tourist destination with a focus on the ticketing Reseller opportunity, through which Expo 2015 selects Authorised Ticket Resellers on a global scale. The initiative is part of the ENIT Area & Oceania strategy, aiming at extending the range of activities of ENIT in the Gulf.
