Golf Dubai: Al Naboodah construction group LLC extends sponsorship of DP WORLD TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP for the second year

Dubai (UAE): For the second consecutive year, Al Naboodah Construction Group LLC – part of The Saeed & Mohammed Al Naboodah Group – will be an Official Sponsor of the 2012 DP World Tour Championship, Dubai, the final event of The European Tour’s Race to Dubai.

With total prize money of $8 million, the DP World Tour Championship is the finale of the 2012 season with The European Tour’s top 60 golfers competing over the Greg Norman-design Earth course at Jumeirah Golf Estates, from 22-25 November.

As well as the prize-money, star names – including World Number One and two time Major winner Rory McIlroy, Open Champion Ernie Els, reigning Race to Dubai Champion Luke Donald and former World Number One Lee Westwood – will also be looking to secure a share of The Race to Dubai Bonus Pool of $3.75 million and the prestigious title of European Number One.

Now in its fourth year, the golf tournament is recognised as one of the most successful and eagerly anticipated events on the calendar – and The European Tour is delighted to maintain its ongoing relationship in the region with Al Naboodah Construction Group LLC.

The $8 million DP World Tour Championship takes place at Jumeirah Golf Estates,Dubaifrom 22-25 November. It is the finale of The Race toDubai, a season-long competition spanning 46 tournaments in 25 destinations and across all five continents on The 2012 European Tour International Schedule.

Now in its fourth year on the Earth course at Jumeirah Golf Estates, the DP World Tour Championship has been the season-ending climax to The Race toDubaisince 2009. Former Champions includeEngland’s Lee Westwood (2009)Sweden’s Robert Karlsson (2010) andSpain’s Alvaro Quiros (2011).

The Race toDubaiwinner receives The Harry Vardon Trophy (first awarded in 1937), US$1,000,000 from the US$3,750,000 Bonus Pool and a seven-year European Tour Card exemption. The winner of The Race toDubaiwill secure Category 1 Membership of The European Tour similar to the winners of The Open Championship, the US Open, the US PGA Championship and the Masters Tournament. The Bonus Pool will count as Official Money on the final Race toDubaistandings. Winners of The Race to Dubai since its inception – Lee Westwood (2009), Germany’s Martin Kaymer (2010) and England’s Luke Donald (2011).
