The FIA Formula 4 UAE Championship is about to begin. A new challenge in the UAE motorsport calendar is now a reality and is aimed at young drivers in the FIA MENA region.
The Automobile & Touring Club of the UAE (ATCUAE), Dubai, United Arab Emirates, has presented the calendar of races that begin October 2016 and will run through until March 2017 in the UAE. The F4 UAE Championship will feature 18 races held over 6 events at Yas Marina (Grand Prix Circuit, North and South Circuit) and Dubai Autodrome (National, International and Grand Prix Circuit). The opening round is at Yas Marina GP Circuit on 28th/29th of the month. It will be the first racing Trophy Event but not a championship stage.
The Formula 4 UAE Championship (follow the news @F4UAE or #F4UAE) is a FIA licensed championship organized by the ATCUAE and zeros in at young drivers who wish to progress in single seat racing. “For some it offers the first step on the ladder to Formula 1…,” tells the publicist on Dubai Autodrome Motorsport News’ track talk.
The Formula 4 UAE is open to drivers over 15 years of age, holding a FIA National Race license or higher.
The new Formula, in fact, offers a new category of single seat racing to bridge the gap between karting and Formula 3.
The Abu Dhabi circuit will be the new “Home of F4AUE” where “young drivers from each country will be given the opportunity to show off their talent from the beginning of their racing careers in a category that meets the FIA criteria”.
Mohammed ben Sulayem, President of ATCUAE and Emirates Motorsports Federation (EMSF), said that the FIA-accredited F4 UAE Championship is an addition to a long list of circuit racing activities in the region helping to drive the sport forward.
