Dubai Food Festival 2017 will take place from 23 February to 11 March 2017. Held every year, it celebrates Dubai’s emergence as a gastronomic destination.
The festival offers a calendar of exciting food-related events and promotions, highlighting Dubai’s unique food scene, its personalities and its world-class dining experiences.
Dubai Food Festival is organised by Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment, an agency of Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing . It is part of a larger strategy to develop a year-round programme of citywide festivals that contributes to the growth of tourism and retail sectors in Dubai.
From February Thursday 23, Dubai will play host to a 17-day programme of events including appearances from celebrity chefs, pop-up restaurants, dining deals and competitions.
Counting over 200 nationalities among its residents, Dubai has plenty of budget dining options and many of them are in vibrant neighbourhoods.
Step outside the malls and hotels to experience culturally diverse foods at street-side spots that locals know and love. Neighbourhoods like Karama, Satwa and Deira are known for their delicious offerings that won’t empty your wallet.
Indian and Pakistani cafeterias top the list of affordable options alongside the ubiquitous Lebanese spots, but don’t forget the Iranian bakeries, African cafés and plenty more.
From the simple falafel sandwich to the juicy chicken shawarma consumed curb-side, to the never-ending thalis, stacks of parathas and family-sized rice dishes – you can expect to be fed well while discovering old Dubai and its inviting, fragrant lanes.
The most important Dubai Food Festival attractions will include Etisalat Beach Canteen, Miele Dubai Restaurant Week and a competition called Dine & Win where entrants could land a new apartment.
Etisalat Beach Canteen will now set up shop at Sunset Beach off Jumeirah Beach Road and will serve side orders of live entertainment, fitness sessions and family activities alongside the main course of cooking masterclasses and food trucks. It will also be the base for the whole festival and the place to find out about the full schedule and where to get tickets for all of the events.
Miele Dubai Restaurant Week will run from Friday February 24 to Saturday March 4 and offers the chance to eat at 15 of the city’s top venues for Dhs199 per person.
Dine & Win takes place at more than 1,000 restaurants across the city. Spending more than Dhs30 gets you an entry card that offers on-the-spot prizes and entry to a draw to win a studio apartment.
