Art Dubai comes to its twelfth edition

Art Dubai is back for its twelfth edition. The event is open to the public from 22 up to 24 March, while 21 March is the Ladies Day Preview, open to ladies only, and the VIP Opening.
Held under the Patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai, the event kicks off the art season throughout the cosmopolitan city.

The fair is sponsored by Julius Baer and Piaget. Madinat Jumeirah is home to the event. The Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) is a strategic partner of Art Dubai and supports the fair’s year-round education programme. In Art Dubai you have the opportunity to see contemporary and modern art from around the world, and attend the many workshops, lectures and exhibitions.
You do not have to miss The Global Art Forum, a daily programme of performances, and an exhibition of works by the Abraaj Group Art Prize winner and shortlisted artists.

It’s new this year: The Room, an immersive, interactive installation by a group of GCC artists that will broadcast a daytime talk show called Good Morning GCC, with a television studio at the heart of the art fair. This show will present demonstrations, performances, and celebrity appearances.
Art Dubai is a leading international art fair and also the preeminent place to interact with art from the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia through a number of unique high-profile galleries from across the region. It aims to broaden the conversation on art outside of the traditional art centres. The fair is a place of discovery from art from across the globe, thanks to the artists presenting works from emerging art scenes, exhibited alongside, and matching the quality of, those from firmly established centres of the art world.

Acting as a digital extension of Art Dubai’s offering, the Art Dubai Portraits, a film series on artists that are connected to the fair through its programming or participating galleries, serve as a one-of-a-kind resource for curators and researchers working on the art from the region.
Art Dubai further promotes regional art and artists by featuring a unique mix of programming and commissioned works, often in partnership with other regional institutions, as well as the annual exhibition of works by the winner and shortlisted artists of the Abraaj Group Art Prize. Through its year-round educational initiatives such as the Global Art Forum, Campus Art Dubai and the Art Dubai Fellowship, Art Dubai is integral to the development of the local art scene and is active in building the theoretical framework for the local artistic talent showing at the fair.

AED is good to have, but pretty expensive and relatively sizeable compared to most of the other items listed. It does NOT restart a stopped heart, it “resets one which is “fibrillating (rapidly and irregularly contracting).
