As last year, in order to allow the field to thin out before running on the footpath around the lake the race will be run in an anticlockwise direction around the Emirates Hills Lake.
Please take note of the following points, particularly as they relate to the low light of the early morning:
1. During the first and last +/- 1km of the route there are numerous speed humps on the road. Please keep a lookout for them in order to prevent any mishaps.
2. The route immediately after leaving, and again immediately before entering the Emirates Golf Club premises (at +/- 2.1km and 19.0km respectively) covers a short distance across sand.
3. There’s a 300m sandy section as the runners leave the lake at +/-16.2km.
4. Finally, 8.2km of the route is run along the footpath around the Emirates Hills Lake. Whilst the footpath is wide enough to run 2 or 3 abreast, please be considerate towards other runners who may either wish to pass you, or whom you may wish to pass along this section. There are a number of benches and rubbish bins positioned on the footpath, which runs adjacent to the springs. These obstacles could pose a danger of injury to runners so please be on the lookout for them.
Marshalls will be stationed along the route to guide the runners. We will have a lead cyclist and a sweeper cyclist.
KM Marker boards
Each kilometre of the route will be indicated with a km marker board.
Tables with water and energy drinks will be provided at +/- 3km intervals. Please dispose of your empty drinks containers in a responsible way to make it easier for the event organisers to clean up afterwards. The tables will have the following on them:
Table 1 – water in cups
Table 2 – water & Gatorade in cups
Table 3 – water & Gatorade in cups
Table 4 – water & Gatorade in cups
Table 5 – water & Gatorade in cups & bottles of water
Table 6 – water & Gatorade in cups & bottles of water
Spectators will be allowed access to certain areas within Emirates Hills and the Springs in order to support the runners.
Medical and ambulance support will be provided.
Showers will be provided at the finish as a courtesy by the Emirates Golf Club. However, please bring your own towels to minimise any inconvenience to golf playing members of the club.
Breakfast will be served from 08h00 onwards. Seating will be provided indoors as well as outdoors. Please present your receipt from Premier Marathons (downloadable from your Transactions) in order to be allowed into the breakfast serving area.
